YOU can’t argue that Tom Reid and Kristian Baker don’t have vision. The duo – both celebrated PGA Professionals considered among the best coaches in the UK – acquired the former Sunningdale Ladies Golf Club in 2019 with the sole aim of making it inclusive for all.

Rebranded as Sunningdale Heath, the Berkshire venue was transformed and has been held up as a best practice model of how to get golf going for everyone.

Now, the pair are attempting to repeat the trick, acquiring Worplesdon’s Merrist Wood with the aim of creating a community that “welcomes generations to come”. They reveal all on the latest episode of The GBQ Podcast.

Hosted by Sky Sports Golf presenter Sarah Stirk, each month The GBQ Podcast brings you in-depth interviews and provides genuine analysis around the most important topics facing the golf industry.

Our aim is to ensure you hear from the people that matter as we talk with the game’s influential figures.

So what’s the secret for Tom and Kristian? How do they balance their coaching aspirations with running a busy golf club and shepherding a huge project at another?

And on the wider issue of getting more players into the game, how can clubs make their facilities more inclusive? Is a lot of the ‘growing the game’ conversation just talk?
