THE GBQ PODCAST

Episode 9:

Alyson Mckechin

The host of The GBQ Podcast, Sarah Stirk, meets Golf It! Head of Golf, Alyson Mckechin

Making golf accessible and inclusive isn’t a participation buzzword for The R&A – it’s policy. The governing body’s ethos is encapsulated in Golf It! – the community-based golf and entertainment facility that transformed the former Lethamhill golf course in Glasgow.

Opened in 2023, it is a vast indoor and outdoor attraction, with a driving range, adventure golf, a welcoming hub and a 9-hole golf course, and Alyson Mckechin was recently appointed its head of golf.

A former Scottish Women’s Amateur Champion, and LET professional, Alyson’s become renowned in her career as a PGA professional for her work with juniors, women and girls – and is Scotland’s coach of the year and the latest guest on The GBQ Podcast.

Hosted by Sky Sports Golf presenter Sarah Stirk, each month The GBQ Podcast brings you in-depth interviews and provides genuine analysis around the most important topics facing the golf industry.

Our aim is to ensure you hear from the people that matter as we talk with the game’s influential figures.

So with the golf industry still working out how to level up the gender gap, especially in membership, Alyson’s a perfect person to ask about how we get more golfers playing our wonderful game…
